AOL Mail Outgoing Server Settings - Quick Steps

The AOL Mail is a free email service owned by Verizon Communications. AOL is also called AIM, which expands to AOL Instant Messenger. The AOL Desktop app is available for the email client users. You can access your AOL Mail account from anywhere using a web browser or any email client app. Before you access your AOL Mail account on the app, you need to configure the email account with its server settings. There are incoming and outgoing mail servers that should be configured for any email account. Incoming mail servers use the POP and IMAP protocols, while the outgoing mail server uses the SMTP. On Outlook 2016/2019:

  • Step 1:Open the Outlook 2016 client app on your computer.
  • Step 2:Click the File menu and then click on Info.
  • Step 3:Select the Add Account button and a small window will open now.
  • Step 4:Enter your AOL email address and tick the ‘Let me set up my account manually’ option.
  • Step 5:Click the Connect button. 
  • Step 6:Choose the account type as POP3 or IMAP.
  • Step 7:Enter the following information for the relevant incoming and outgoing mail servers and proceed with AOL mail outgoing server settings.

For POP3:

  • Server: pop.aol.com
  • Port: 995
  • Encryption method: SSL/TLS
  • Require SPA: Yes

For IMAP:

  • Server: imap.aol.com
  • Port: 993
  • Encryption method: SSL/TLS
  • Require SPA: Yes

SMTP (Outgoing mail)

  • Server: smtp.aol.com
  • Port: 465
  • Encryption method: SSL/TLS
  • Require SPA: Yes
  • Step 1:After entering the details, click Next for SMTP server settings.
  • Step 2:In the Account Settings box, enter the email account password and click Connect.
  • Step 3:Once the account has been set up, the confirmation message appears on the screen.
  • Step 4:If your email messages do not appear in the window, then select the File menu.
  • Step 5:Choose your AOL Mail account and select Account Settings > Account Name and Sync Settings.
  • Step 6:Type “INBOX” in the Root folder path and click Next to sync the emails and complete AOL mail outgoing server settings for sending emails.
