How to Configure Thunderbird For Yahoo Mail

Thunderbird is a powerful and customizable email client. You can configure your Yahoo mail account with the Thunderbird email client easily. On this web page, we will show you how to configure Thunderbird for Yahoo Mail.

Yahoo! Mail is used by many people for business purposes. By default, Yahoo! Mail does not allow non-Yahoo apps from accessing your email account. So, before you configure Thunderbird for Yahoo! Mail, you need to disable the Allow apps that use less secure sign in option in your Yahoo account.

  • Step 1: To do so, go to Yahoo! Mail’s secure login page.
  • Step 2: Enter your Yahoo! Mail account credentials in the respective fields.
  • Step 3: Click the Sign in button.
  • Step 4: Scroll down the secure login page and look for the Allow apps that use less secure sign in option.
  • Step 5: Once you locate it, click the toggle button beside it.

Now, you’re ready to configure Thunderbird for Yahoo! Mail.

  • Step 1: Open the Thunderbird application on your computer.
  • Step 2: Click the Email option.
  • Step 3: Now, a window titled Would you like a new email address? will open up.
  • Step 4: Click the button titled Skip this and use my existing email.
  • Step 5: On the Mail Account Setup page, enter your Yahoo! Mail name, email address, and password in the corresponding fields. If required, click the checkbox beside the Remember password option.
  • Step 6: Click the Continue button.
  • Step 7: Now, select a storage type. Select it by clicking the radio button beside it.
  • Step 8: Once you configure Thunderbird for Yahoo! Mail successfully, click the Done button.
