- Step 1: To recover your contacts on Windows Live Mail, you need to download and install the Contacts Recovery software first.
- Step 2: Next, launch the software on your Windows desktop.
- Step 3: In the Contacts Recovery for Windows Live Mail window, click the File tab and select Find and recover lost contacts from the toolbar.
- Step 4: In the Contacts Recovery Wizard window, select the "Recover contacts from hard disk" radio button and click Next for contacts recovery for Windows live mail.
- Step 5: On the Select a disk to scan screen, choose your drive or .edb file in which the contacts were stored.
- Step 6: Wait until the scan is complete.
- Step 7: Make sure not to cancel the scan process when it searches for the deleted contacts.
- Step 8: After completing the scan, choose the contacts you wish to recover from the displayed list.
- Step 9: Next, click the File tab and select the Save recovered contacts icon from the toolbar.
- Step 10: Now, save the recovered contacts to a local hard drive temporarily.
- Step 11: When the Save Recovered Contacts window pops-up, verify the output folder as well as the format, and click the Save button.
- Step 12: To import the recovered contacts, you need to launch the Windows Live Mail app.
- Step 13: Once the Windows Live Mail app launches, click the Contacts button available at the bottom-left corner of the window.
- Step 14: Click the Import menu from the toolbar and select the Business card (.VCF) option from the drop-down menu.
- Step 15: When the VCF file selection window appears, press the Ctrl + A keys to select all the files.
- Step 16: Click the Open button and complete the Import process.
