Changing your IMAP account to POP3 is possible in EM Client, but you need to remove your existing IMAP account. After removing your IMAP account, configure it as a new POP3 account in EM Client for eM client change from IMAP to POP3. Make sure you have access to use the POP3 account from the email server.
- Step 1: If you wish to configure a web-based email service like Gmail, you have to enable the POP access for all emails.
- Step 2: Log in to your Gmail account and select Settings Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
- Step 3: In the POP Download section, select the Enable POP for all mail radio button.
- Step 4: Click the Save button to save and apply the changes.
- Step 5: Now, launch the EM Client application on your computer.
- Step 6: Click the Tools tab from the menu bar and select Accounts to begin eM client change from IMAP to POP3.
- Step 7: Click on the Add new account icon(plus symbol) available at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
- Step 8: In the Mail section, select the Other option and click Next.
- Step 9: In the New Account window, type your email address in the Email address field and click Next.
- Step 10: Under Incoming Server, choose POP3 as your incoming server type.
- Step 11: Type your incoming mail server name in the Incoming Server field (for example, mail.example.com).
- Step 12: Type your full email id in the User name field.
- Step 13: Type the correct password in the Password field and proceed with eM client change from IMAP to POP3.
- Step 14: Click the Next button and configure your outgoing mail server settings.
- Step 15: Under Outgoing Server, type your outgoing mail server name in the Outgoing server field (for example, mail.example.com).
- Step 16: Fill the User name and Password fields.
- Step 17: Make sure not to mark the "Outgoing server doesn't require authentication" checkbox.
- Step 18: Click the Next button and select the Fix button under the SMTP and POP3 fields to check the server settings.
- Step 19: If you wish to skip the server testings, select the "Ignore test results" checkbox in the Test configuration tab for eM client change from IMAP to POP3.
- Step 20: Under Account details, type your desired name in the Your name field.
- Step 21: Enter your email address in the Account name field and click the Next button.
- Step 22: Select the "Create a separate folder tree for messages" radio button and click Finish.
- Step 23: Now, your account is added successfully.
- Step 24: Configure the port numbers and additional settings by selecting the Accounts tab.
- Step 25: Choose your email account from the left-side panel for eM client change from IMAP to POP3.
- Step 26: In the Accounts window, click the POP3 tab and select the "Don't use a secure connection" option from the Security policy drop-down menu.
- Step 27: If you want to change the server settings, select your desired options under Server Settings.
- Step 28: Make sure that the "Remove from server after X days" checkbox is selected to avoid over usage of allocated storage quota for your mailbox.
- Step 29: Click the SMTP tab and ensure that the port number 587 is entered in the Port field.
- Step 30: Under Server, select the Don't use secure connection option in the Security policy pull-down menu.
- Step 31: If you wish to use an encrypted connection, enter 995 in the Port field for the POP server and select the "Use SSL/TLS if available" option from the Security policy drop-down menu.
- Step 32: Also, select the "Use SSL/TLS if available option" from the Security policy pull-down menu under SMTP Server for eM client change from IMAP to POP3.
- Step 33: Enter the port number 465 or 587 in the port field for the SMTP server.
- Step 34: Under Authentication, mark the "Server requires authentication" checkbox and select the "Use identity credentials" radio button.
- Step 35: Click OK to close the Accounts window.
- Step 36: Now, you can access your POP3 account easily from EM Client.
