Em Client Keeps Asking For Gmail Password - [SOLVED]

eM Client is one of the best desktop apps that manages multiple email accounts under a single platform. You can configure web-based email services like Gmail, Yahoo, AOL Mail, Outlook.com, and Yandex Mail account in the eM Client app. If eM Client keeps asking for your Gmail password, there might be issues with Gmail or authentication. Follow the troubleshooting steps give below to fix the eM client keeps asking for Gmail password problem.

Solution 1: Turn On The Allow Less Secure Apps Option In Gmail

  • Step 1: On your computer, check whether you have a stable Internet connection and open the default browser.
  • Step 2: Navigate to the official Gmail Sign-in page and enter your login credentials in the required fields.
  • Step 3: Click on your profile at the top-right corner and select the Account Info option.
  • Step 4: Go to the Security tab and scroll down the page to the Less secure apps access section.
  • Step 5: Toggle on the Allow less secure apps button.
  • Step 6: Make sure that the 2-Step Verification setting is turned off.
  • Step 7: Save the settings and log out from your Gmail account.
  • Step 8: If eM client keeps asking for Gmail password again, move on to the next solution.

Solution 2: Enable IMAP And Setup A Unique App Password

  • Step 1: On your computer, open the default browser and log in to your Gmail account.
  • Step 2: Click the Settings icon at the top-right corner and select the Settings option from the drop-down list.
  • Step 3: Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and select the Enable IMAP option in the IMAP access section.
  • Step 4: To save the configured settings, click on Save Settings at the bottom of the page. 
  • Step 5: Click on your profile icon at the top and select the Google Account tab.
  • Step 6: Navigate to the left-side panel, click the Security tab, and select App Passwords.
  • Step 7: Click on Select app to choose Mail.
  • Step 8: Choose the Windows Computer option from the Select Device drop-down menu.
  • Step 9: Click the Generate button and copy the 16-digit app password.
  • Step 10: Select Done and launch the eM Client app on your computer.
  • Step 11: Remove the previously added Gmail account and reconfigure it with the right server settings.
  • Step 12: Make sure to enter the 16-digit app password in the Password field and click Next to complete the setup.
  • Step 13: This will fix the eM client keeps asking for Gmail password issue.
