Mac Mail Outlook Unable To Verify

The Mac Mail, also known as Apple Mail, is the built-in email client for the Mac and iOS devices. If you are getting the ‘Unable to verify account name or password’ error while configuring your Outlook account in the Mail app, follow the below-mentioned steps to fix the error.

Solution 1: Check if you can enter the Outlook email password in System Preferences

    Make sure that your Windows 10 computer is connected to stable internet.
  • Step 1: On your Mac, click the Apple menu at the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Step 2: Select the System Preferences option from the drop-down menu.
  • Step 3: Click the Internet Accounts tab and navigate to the left-side panel.
  • Step 4: Select the account that you wish to verify and enter the necessary details in the Email Address, Description, Name, and Password fields.
  • Step 5: Make sure that the Mail checkbox is selected in the Use With section.
  • Step 6: Check if the email has been verified.
  • Step 7: If you face any problem in verifying your Outlook account, move on to the next solution.

Solution 2: Removing and re-adding your Outlook email account

  • Step 1: On your Mac, launch the Mail app and click the Mail menu.
  • Step 2: Select the Preferences option from the pull-down list.
  • Step 3: In the Internet Accounts window, select your email account from the left-side panel.
  • Step 4: Alternatively, you can open the Internet Accounts window by selecting System Preferences from the Apple menu and choosing Internet Accounts in the System Preferences window.
  • Step 5: After selecting your email account, click the Remove icon (Minus symbol) at the bottom-left corner of the window.
  • Step 6: Click the OK button to delete your email account.
  • Step 7: Once you have deleted your Outlook email account, restart your Mac.
  • Step 8: Launch the Mail app and re-add your Outlook account by manually configuring the server settings.
  • Step 9: Make sure to turn off the 2-step verification for your Outlook account before adding it in the Mail app.
  • Step 10: If the problem persists, delete the Offline Mail Cache folder on your Mac.
  • Step 11: It will fix the account verification problem.
