Protonmail Notifications Not Working - [SOLVED]

It uses three types of notifications, such as Email notifications, desktop notifications, and mobile apps push notifications. The Email notifications feature allows you to link an email account of your desire. After linking the account, you’ll receive an email from ProtonMail to complete the further process. If you’re using the web version of ProtonMail, then enable the Desktop notifications feature in it to get notifications whenever you receive a new mail. ProtonMail has its own encrypted email mobile application. If you’re using your ProtonMail account on an Android or iOS phone, then you can use this application to access your account. On Desktop:

  • Step 1:If you’re not receiving a notification on Desktop, then as discussed above, check whether the Desktop Notifications option is enabled on your ProtonMail account.
  • Step 2:Enable the Desktop Notifications option if you haven’t enabled it yet.
  • Step 3:To do so, sign in to your ProtonMail account. If you have signed in to the latest version of ProtonMail, then you’ll receive the Would you like to receive notifications... message on the screen.
  • Step 4:Allow the notifications and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Step 5:After enabling this feature, check if the Protonmail notifications not working issue is resolved.

On Android:

  • Step 1:Check whether Google Services are enabled on your Android phone because the ProtonMail app uses Google Play to implement push notifications. If not, enable it.
  • Step 2:Similarly, check if Background sync is enabled in the Application settings. If not, enable it.
  • Step 3:Disable the snooze option if it is enabled.
  • Step 4:Make sure that the notifications of ProtonMail are allowed on your Android device. To confirm it, go to the Apps screen and select the ProtonMail app. Choose Notification > Allow notifications. Restart the ProtonMail application on your Android phone.
  • Step 5:If the restart doesn’t resolve the Proton mail notification not working issue, again sign in to your ProtonMail account on your Android phone.

On iOS:

  • Step 1:Check if the Push notifications are enabled on your iOS device. To confirm it, open the Settings screen. Tap the ProtonMail app followed by Allow notifications.
  • Step 2:Restart the ProtonMail application on your iOS device.
  • Step 3:Sign out and sign in to your ProtonMail account.
