Thunderbird Mail Signature Setup - 4 Easy Methods

Signatures are blocks of text that enhances the outlook of your email messages. Once you add a signature to your email account, it will be added automatically to the end of each email message that you send. You have to configure signatures separately if you are using multiple email accounts in the Mozilla Thunderbird email client. The Thunderbird mail signature setup instructions are given below.

Step 1 - Access Signature Settings

  • Step 1:Launch Mozilla Thunderbird.
  • Step 2:Go to the Tools menu and choose the Account Settings option.
  • Step 3:Click your email account in the left panel.

Step 2 - Signature Setup

Method 1 - Plain Text Signatures

  • Step 1:In the main panel, go to the Signature Text section and enter the signature that you want to append.
  • Step 2:Note: Plain text signatures work with both HTML and text message formats.

Method 2 - HTML Signatures

  • Step 1:Navigate to the Signature Text section and select the checkbox next to the ‘Use HTML’ option for Thunderbird mail signature setup.
  • Step 2:Type the text that you want to add as a signature.

Method 3 - Signature File

  • Step 1:Return to the main interface of Thunderbird.
  • Step 2:Click File -> New.
  • Step 3:Select the Message option.
  • Step 4:Enter the text that you want to use as a signature.
  • Step 5:Note: Use the formatting toolbar to create your signature.
  • Step 6:Click the File menu and select the Save As option followed by the File option.
  • Step 7:Select the ‘HTML files’ option.
  • Step 8:Enter a name for the file and then click the Save option to complete Thunderbird mail signature setup.
  • Step 9:Go back to the Account Settings window.
  • Step 10:Choose the email account for which you want to add the signature.
  • Step 11:In the Signature text area, select the checkbox beside the ‘Attach the signature from a file’ option.
  • Step 12:Click the Choose button and then choose the file that you have created.

Method 4 - Adding Image Files

  • Step 1:You can add an image file from your computer by creating an HTML signature.
  • Step 2:Alternatively, click Insert -> Image and type the signature contents.
  • Step 3:If you want to add an image that is on a web server, type the image URL in the Image Location field. Select the ‘Attach this image to the message’ option. This will add the image file as an attachment for image signature.
  • Step 4:Note: If you have configured Thunderbird to block remote content during Thunderbird mail signature setup, you cannot add the image file as an attachment.
